I make a ton of decisions every day. I decide what to wear, what to eat, which way to walk to class, what homework to do, and much more. In my life I have made some more significant decisions as well, like my decision to follow Christ, my decision to attend Northwest, and my decision to join Gamma Alpha Lambda. Recently, I have made a huge decision that will affect my life and my future career. I am transferring to Wichita State University in the fall.
When I decided to attend Northwest, my plan was to earn a degree and then attend Wichita State's Physician's Assistant school. I was super excited about going to Northwest and taking all of my classes. In October I started to realize that something just wasn't right, so I applied to Wichita State University. My decision to transfer to Wichita State is based on two main factors.
1. A degree better suited for my personality
I have always loved science classes, but I have also loved business classes. Freshman year I joined FBLA and I loved it. My senior year I took the healthcare administration test for contest. I studied constantly for an entire month, and the amazing thing about it was that I actually wanted to study and learn about the material. Conclusion: This is the type of degree I should be pursuing. At Wichita State, my major will be Public Health Sciences, which is basically their version of healthcare administration.
2. More opportunities
I love traveling, seeing new places, and experiencing new things, I also love the idea of getting a head start on my career, and Wichita State has ways to help me with both. As far as the traveling, I can participate in the National Student Exchange program, which will allow me to attend a school somewhere in the United States and pay the same rates that I will pay at Wichita State. As far as my career goes, Wichita State offers almost too many programs to count. One in particular is that they have connections with businesses in the area, and some of the businesses even have offices on campus.
Deciding to transfer to Wichita State was not an easy decision to make. I will be further away from my parents and brother, and I'll also be leaving behind the many amazing people I've met at Northwest. I am excited though, because I know that this is the next step in God's plan for me.
